Where will my C&P exam be if I live in Rock Island or Moline?
Quad Cities veterans are usually sent across the river to the Quad Cities VA Clinic in Davenport, to the Iowa City VA Medical Center, or to a private office that contracts with the VA. A few exams happen by telehealth. The appointment letter names the place, so read it closely and call if the date won’t work.
Can I get free help with a VA claim in Rock Island County?
Yes. The Veterans Assistance Commission of Rock Island County (VACRICO) has county Veteran Service Officers, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) has service officers covering the Quad Cities, and accredited groups such as the American Legion, DAV and VFW file claims at no charge. We’re a private alternative, and if free help suits your case better, we’ll say so.
Does the Chicago VA office decide Illinois claims?
Illinois’s VA regional office is the Chicago Regional Benefit Office on West Taylor Street, but the VA spreads claims across the country, so a rater in another state may decide yours. What moves a claim is a complete file that matches the rating criteria, not where it is processed.
What property tax break do disabled veterans get in Illinois?
Under the Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities, a 30–49% service-connected rating takes $2,500 off your home’s equalized assessed value, 50–69% takes $5,000, and 70% or higher exempts the first $250,000 of EAV. You must apply every year through your county assessment office.
I worked at the Rock Island Arsenal after I got out. Does that count?
VA compensation covers disabilities tied to military service, so civilian years at the Arsenal don’t create a VA claim by themselves. If you also served in uniform, though, noise and chemical exposure from that service can support hearing loss, tinnitus or toxic-exposure claims, and we can help you sort out which records matter.
Do you work with veterans outside the Quad Cities?
Yes. We help veterans all over Illinois by phone and video, including Galesburg, Macomb, Quincy, Peoria and Springfield.
How does the VA combine more than one rating?
It doesn’t add them. The VA applies each rating, largest first, to whatever portion of you is still “healthy,” then rounds the result to the nearest 10%. A 60% and a 20% come out to 68%, which rounds to 70%. Check your own numbers in our free VA disability calculator.
Is Mission Ready Claims connected to the VA or IDVA?
No. We are a private business with no affiliation or endorsement from the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Iowa City Health Care, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, VACRICO or any other government office. Filing at VA.gov is always free.
